a dialogue in a novel I read. It seems answer a q: how can God be kind and almight at the same time? The idea looks like contrdict to each other. The question was if God loves us and is able to help us, then He shall protect human beings from suffering. It seems that He is almight, yet has no mercy. or He is kind, yet He is not able to help ppl.
So if you imagine that you had a kid, would you love him/her? Would you try to protect him/her from suffering? Next q, will you allow him/her to ride a bike? Sure, ppl would and would tell them to be careful. As a father, you might just tell him/her some basic rules to follow and let them work it out. But what if they make a mistake and hurt themselves? The kid will learn to be more careful next time. So even if a father has the power to interupt and protect kids from suffering, but the way you love him/her is to allow him/her to make their own choices and learn their lessons.
Of course, the suffering can be caused by other ppl, not necessary our own mistakes. I think every decision we made not only affect ourselves but also affect other, even affect a nation. That's God's love for us, He let us make our own choices.
